Join us for a very special four-day seasonal cycling and food adventure with chef Gill Meller. Perfect for cyclists who love to feast, feasters who love to cycle or for anyone who just wants to switch off for a few days, reconnect with nature and explore some of our region’s beautiful and unspoilt landscape.
We’ll ride-and-gather our region’s excellent seasonal fare and discover the local artisans who produce it. You’ll then watch Gill take inspiration from our adventures as he prepares delicious evening meals over an open fire at Zero Neuf.
With our ride leaders showing you the way, the two ‘gather’ rides will be on a mix of gravel and tarmac we’ll take you deep into the region and uncover its rich network of food artisans. We’ll meet the people behind the products and learn about their artisanal methods before loading our musettes with their delicious produce. We’ll reach them on secret roads and trails with mind-blowing views that are seemingly designed for the enjoyment of cyclists.
On our return to ZN HQ Gill will prepare and cook your evening meals using the simple but delicious methods he is renowned for. A big advocate of simple, seasonal cookery, he’ll also be here to take questions and talk further about his philosophy and experiences.
These weekends will combine our region’s incredible cycling, its rich produce, stunning landscape and Gill’s love of the shifting seasons to give you a truly unforgettable experience.
We’ll collect you from the airport and on arrival at Zero Neuf we’ll organise the bike builds and bike fits whilst you enjoy an apéro. Dinner and drinks follow.
After breakfast, we’ll kick things off with a short orientation ride to give you a taste of things to come. On our return to HQ a light lunch will be followed by an afternoon of down time. You can choose from a spot of river dipping, café cinema or yoga. You may prefer to switch off in a hammock or snooze around the pool. The time is yours.
The first of our two ride-and-gather trips. Our ride leaders will make sure your time is spent enjoying the stunning scenery and the day’s route. A pause at each producer to learn about them and their methods will make for a fully immersive experience. Lunch will be taken on the road at one of our favourite spots. Back at base, we’ll leave the day’s ingredients in Gill’s very capable hands as he cooks your dinner over an open fire. Conviviality is the theme – you enjoy an unforgettable meal with stories of the day’s adventures retold over a glass of local beer or wine.
The second ride-and-gather will see us work our way deeper into the Ariège and continue our journey around the region’s producers, gathering ingredients for Gill’s second menu. Our ride leaders will once again ensure your eyes are looking up at the incredible landscape and ensure your enjoyment of the day’s route. Back at HQ you’ll enjoy a pre dinner beer tasting with our friends at Brasserie de Quercorb before Gill entertains the group with more open-fire cooking mastery.
Depending on flight times you can enjoy the remaining time at ZeroNeuf or take a short local spin. We’ll make sure you are back at the airport in good time for your return flights.
