ZeroNeuf – Experience, Adventure, Escape
Spend time here and you will find it’s relaxed, rule free and uncomplicated, you can do as much or as little as you please. It’s a ‘home from home’ kind of place.
We run tailored cycling adventures, creative and wellbeing experiences for groups, families (childcare available), couples and singles. You can also enjoy the exclusive use of ZeroNeuf if you’re part of a large group. We understand everyone is different so we will work with you to ensure you stay on your terms.
We are based on the doorstep of the Pyrénées in the Ariège (09 | Zero Neuf) department of Southern France. We’re just an hour from Toulouse and Carcassonne airport. We have painstakingly transformed this once derelict farm and its land into stylish and comfortable accommodation. We’ve added a saltwater swimming pool and the garden offers you panoramic views of the high mountains. We also have an on site café and a service course where bike rental and guiding is available.
You have incredible cycling from the front door and you’ll find yourself on blissfully quiet roads and incredibly varied terrain. You can ride into the high Pyrénées, over rolling foothills and along flat river valleys. We’ve got stunning mountain passes away from the madding crowd and we can also serve up ancient châteaux, medieval villages, vineyards, magnificent river gorges and a multitude of breath-taking views. There is tarmac and gravel in plentiful supply. We welcome cyclists of all ambitions and we adopt a strict no ‘rules’ policy and if you’re just passing through you are welcome to pitch a tent, hang a hammock or put down a bivy.
The tranquil surroundings of ZeroNeuf offer the ideal environment to practice yoga and pilates and the incredible landscape and ancient architecture provide plenty of inspiration for painting and sketching. The region is full of artisans producing delicious cheese, meats and charcuterie, fruits and vegetable; they’re perfect ingredients for our food based experiences.
Our super cool ‘barn bar’ serves up the excellent roasts of Workshop Coffee and local craft beer comes from the brilliant Brasserie de Quercorb. Our wines are sourced from local bio vineyards and delicious homemade eats, cakes and snacks come courtesy of Joss.
We live on site and we’re here to ensure you get the very best from your stay. Our two boys, three very friendly dogs and two extremely mischievous cats ensure there is never a dull moment.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Mike and Joss
ZeroNeuf is situated in Gaudiès (09700), a picturesque hamlet on the banks of L’Hers. Our south-facing garden has uninterrupted views to the Pyrénées and we are surrounded by pasture, woodland and wildlife. It’s the perfect place to switch off and escape.
The village of Belpech is a five-minute drive and here you will find a fantastic epicerie (deli) which stocks mainly local produce (the fresh cheese counter is superb), an excellent boulangerie, a very good butcher, a small Casino mini market, a bar, a pharmacy, a bank, a doctor and a post office.
A little further away is Pamiers and it has several larger supermarkets, bars, restaurants and an excellent bike shop as well as many other large town amenities.
We are an hour’s drive from both Toulouse Blagnac and Carcassonne airport. British Airways (http://www.britishairways.com), Easyjet (http://www.easyjet.com) and FlyBe http://www.flybe.com) fly regularly to and from Toulouse and Ryanair (http://www.ryanair.com) serves Carcassonne.
Toulouse is 9 hours from London, with a quick change in Paris and there are up to 4 trains per day. For more information, please visit http://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/train/france/toulouse. Depending on your time of arrival we are just over an hour’s drive from the main Toulouse Matabiau station.
If you are arriving by train or plane, most of the major car hire companies are represented at both airports and the train station in Toulouse. You can visit https://www.holidayautos.com for more information and prices.
If you use France’s excellent autoroute network we are between 9 – 11 hours drive from the main French ferry ports and EuroTunnel terminal. In our experience, the driving in France is generally straightforward and you can break the journey with plenty of stops as you pass many wonderful towns, cities and villages along the way! Please note, we will provide detailed directions & instructions as part of your booking confirmation.
If you’re driving down from any of the northern French ports and you’re looking for a place to stop overnight, this place is terrific and pretty much bang on half way:
La Pause, Val de Loire
Mike and Joss Tucker left England in 2014 to pursue a long held dream of living and running a business in France. Joss is half French and has spent large parts of her life in France visiting family and teaching at Pau University. She speaks the language fluently. Mike is a very proud Welshman but now considers himself a true ‘francophile’. – his ability to speak French improves considerably when he’s had a drink.
Mike’s world revolves around cycling; to say he’s passionate about the bike is an understatement and he’ll be your main point of contact for anything cycling related during your stay. He’s also very fond of coffee and beer. Joss has a passion for art & design and her amazing talents are on display all over ZeroNeuf – all of our interiors are designed by her. An excellent cook, Joss also takes responsibility for our catering and wine choices.
Mike and Joss now live full-time in France with their sons Max (13) and Manny (11), their very friendly dogs Guinness, Alfie & Lola, two very mischievous cats, Dave and Molly and three extremely free range laying hens.
